Notes from Tuesday night (night before start of school):
The boys both received great post cards from their teachers before the start of school:
We had Fessenden orientation on Tuesday, and Jack was literally jumping and dancing during the tour around school. It looked like he had to go to the bathroom, but he was literally just that excited. It's really awesome to see.
Jack also seems prepped for the solo bus ride on the first day of school. He explained to Mommy, "I'm too little to go to my classroom by myself so someone will help me, but when I get there, Bobby will be waiting for me." Bobby is Jack's new Fessy friend from the South End.
Blake has made incredible progress with potty training over the last 2 weeks with no camp and pre the start of school. It's great!
Notes from Wednesday (first day of school):
Wow, today was much more emotionally draining than Mommy anticipated! It was really difficult to watch my just-5-year-old drive off in a school bus!
Jack and Blake woke up excited for school and dressed in their school clothes eagerly and quickly.
We somehow got this miraculous family pic with the iPhone auto-settings. Only problem is that we are missing one still-snoozing boy.
Jack basically dragged Mommy out the door to the bus stop at 7am (Max was just waking up). There's a wonderful school bus app, so we knew the bus was running late, but Jack was not waiting at home.
Jack boarded the bus confidently and was off!
Blake was happy to arrive at school, but so much for his potty training. He managed to have 4 accidents in 3 hours (that actually seems really hard to do)!
Jack's first day report was that he wants to go back to school but wants to be driven rather than taking the bus because, "the bus is too scary without you, Mommy." Jack will take the bus again tomorrow, but we have a plan to pair him with a classmate, OE, so hopefully it will go better.
We will see how day #2 goes. It seems there is a lot of room for improvement all around.
