Don't come upstairs

This morning, Jack wanted to go upstairs alone. We kept trying to convince him that we should all go up to breakfast together as usual. He wasn't having it. Finally, we let him go up alone for 5 minutes.

When Mommy made it upstairs, it was clear why Jack wanted to be alone:

Jack sitting at the table with Aunt Elizabeth's tin of gingerbread cookies in front of him.

Mommy: Jack, did you want to come upstairs alone so you could eat one of Aunt Elizabeth's gingerbread cookies?

Jack (grinning devilishly): Yes

There has been a lot of crying and Mommy does not want to argue anymore, so Jack gets the cookie.

Daddy emerges from downstairs

Jack (with the same devilish grin): I tricked you, Daddy!

Oh boy, this toddler!  Who taught him the word "tricked"?!

Note: this is not a picture from this morning. There was not frosting on Jack's morning gingerbread cookie!!

Note II: where is Blake during all of this?  Peacefully drinking his milk and observing his big brother. Blake has his own bag of tricks up his sleeve already!
