Blake's last day at Bright Horizons

Today is Blake's last day at Bright Horizons as our new nanny, Hayley starts Jan 2!  It is definitely with mixed emotions that we transition to a nanny. We love Hayley and think she will be great, but we have loved Bright Horizons. Blake's teachers love how he is so snuggly, chatty, and happy (smiling and laughing). They have commented recently how he has discovered his hands, turning them and staring at them.

Jack's vocabulary continues to blossom. Yesterday mommy wore her new pink fleece vest from Grammy and Papi. Jack commented "new."  Mommy explained that it was from Grammy, and at day care pick up that evening he said, "New, Grammy."

One our favorite Jack stories from the past few weeks was when Jack asked for fish sticks at dinner.  It was unclear where that request was coming from ( Jack had had fish sticks before but they certainly were not a favorite).  Then, we realized it was because his new school buddy Pedro sometimes has fish sticks at lunch!  Pedro recently moved from Brazil and he and Jack have become fast friends. Evidently they spend their days coming up with games to play together (a spontaneous game of ring around the rosie) or simply copying one another.

Another favorite was when Jack's teacher, Cassie, told mommy that she thinks Jack is a bit of a natural leader. You could not have made mommy more happy!!  Cassie said that the kids tend to gravitate to Jack, saying, "Jack, Jack," and copying him when he starts playing a game (like rolling something across the floor in the gross motor room).
